Bison, Mammoths, and Swimming, OH MY!

This morning we went to the Mammoth Site. We saw where they have found almost 60 Mammoths. Every time we come they've dug a little bit more. When we get home, ask your students if all the mammoths were male or female and why the scientists think this is so.

Right now we're at Evans Plunge. It's a hot spring swimming pool that has been used since 1890. They have pictures of people swimming then--the bathing suits are VERY different. :-) The students are trying their best to get across the 6 rings that span the pool. Locals can do it easily. The best any of our students have done is to touch the 3rd ring. It takes a lot of upper body strength, long arms, and good timing. Ms. Grooms is getting pictures of them as they try. The ones who aren't on the rings are going down the 3 different water slides or trying to stay on the alligator floats.

We're still looking for Moose and Elk. So far we have seen several deer and LOTS of bison and prairie dogs. The kids want to try buffalo, so we're buying buffalo burgers for tomorrow night. We're also going to have some trout. A few of the kids got up very early this morning to go fishing with Debbie. They caught several fish and cleaned them. (better them than me!)

We love the campsite we're at because we have so much room to ourselves, and it's absolutely beautiful!
