On the way to the North Rim we stopped at Jacob Lake visitor center. We decided to wait out the rain. Soon the rain turned to snow. We talked to the people who had driven out of the park. We heard it was safe, so we continued on our way. A few miles in we found snow. Lots and lots of snow! The rangers said it was a once-in-a-lifetime snow. We got out and had a snowball fight and got our picture taken at the entrance in the snow--a first on these trips. The snow stopped a couple of miles from the North Rim. It was cold that night, but we were able to sleep in our tents.
